Comments and Feedback: Self Reflection Q + A
1. Feedback in. Overall, how would you rate the quality of the comments and feedback you are receiving from other students in the class? What kinds of comments are you finding to be the most useful?
Although I haven't had as many comments and feedback per blog post as I might have had in the past per class interaction, the feedback and comments have all been of a quality that is useful. I have responded to a few comments as well as taking the pointers and employing the ideas back into my writing. The most useful feedback has come in the form of how the reader interpreted my story adaptations and whether they understood what i was trying to say. In one or tow instances, the comments have been a remedy for writers block by spurring a complete thought where I may have left the story line
lacking.
2. Feedback out. Similarly, how would you rate the quality of the comments and feedback you are leaving for other students? Have you found some good feedback strategies? Are you getting some good ideas for your own writing as you analyze other people's writing?
Feedback for writing has always been something that I struggled with, particularly if it was to critique creative writing. I have always felt that, in questioning the intent of a creative writer, being objective is extremely hard to do. Using the WOW method has been a game changer that makes it very easy to say something meaningful.
I have actually been weary of taking ideas from other writers in the class simply for the sake of originality among peers. However, taking ideas from the authors of the text we've been reading has been an enjoyable literary exercise.
3. Blog comments. Do you have a sense of getting to know people by connecting with them at their blogs? Are you happy with how your Introduction post and how your blog in general provides a space where people can get to know you?
I don't really feel connected to anyone via blog. This seems to be something that online courses deal struggle with. I often wonder if the utility in trying to make online connections via the various methods employed across the online education platform is worth the trouble that everyone goes through to support it. I feel like I have a relationship with my instructor, but I have very little context for my classmates to make a lasting impression.
I am happy with my Introduction and the comments have been pleasant to read. But, I can't claim to have made any solid connections with my classmates. I'm not sure if that is consequential.
4. Looking forward. What do you want/need to do differently to make the feedback assignments more useful for others and/or more useful for you? Do you want to make any changes to your Comment Wall and/or your Introduction?
I'm not rally sure what needs to change. I'm actually very comfortable with how the course is set up and the level of interaction that is expected.
