Week 8 Progress

Source

1. Looking back. Are you happy with your progress so far? What are you most proud of? Do you have a good weekly routine? What are the class assignments that you enjoy the most? Are you using any of the extra credit options? How have things gone in terms of developing your blog and building your website?

As I have mentioned before in a previous post, I have underestimated this course. I do not mean to imply that this course is too difficult. I was looking for a class that was informative and interesting with a less demanding schedule similar to other classes I have taken in the past. I am in the last semester of a very demanding program. Like most other students who work full time and have a family, there simply aren’t enough hours in a day to get everything done well all the time. In this regard, I wish I could give my full attention to everything all the time. I feel like I have developed a routine that remains elastic enough to meet the ever changing challenges of each week. Staying motivated to keep things going is greatly enhanced by knowing that, in another several weeks, I will be done for good! Will all that being said, I am happy with my work so far, but I am not happy with myself in the amount of extra-credit I need to do to make up for missed assignments. The class assignments that I enjoy most are the story writing assignments. I don’t consider myself a writer, but I am finding myself thoroughly enjoying the creative side to this class. Becoming well exercised in blog posting as helped nurture my rekindled love of writing as well.

2. Looking forward. Are there any changes you want to make for the second half of the semester? Any pitfalls you want to avoid? Something new you want to try in your writing? Anything you want to change about your blog or your project website?

Something that I’ve found fun to do in the first half of the semester is to take the fantastical nature of the Indian Epics out of each story and bring each story to life in the context of contemporary realism. Moving forward, I would like to try out embracing the fantasy side of the stories. For my Storybook, I have a few big revisions that I plan on making to bring the story more cohesion. For the storybook webpage, I plan on clarifying the role my introduction plays in the story as a whole.
