Famous Last Words
In the weeks
since spring break I haven’t been able to easily find by creative spirit when
it comes to writing. I can’t say that I am experiencing writers block. I have
had no problem just letting many of my writing assignments across other classes
as well as all the writing I do at for work project proposals and summaries jus
roll out onto paper. Even right now as I write this blog post summarizing my
week of writing, it feels like it is just pouring out at a conversational pace.
But writing
my story for this week’s Story telling assignment felt like a total wreck. I knew
what I wanted to write about from my reading notes. That was no problem. This entire
semester, I have found myself happy with
the challenge of taking the Indian Epic stories and transforming them into a
contemporary tale relative to today’s society. This week was left searching
through a lot of black space in my mind. I feel like I am having a hard time
finding bearing where I felt a very clear direction earlier in the semester.
My Storybook
Addition this week has been something I have been fairly excited to get back
to. I have been very pleased with the adventures of Deepak as he explores and
discovers the mysteries of the Konark Temple thus far. But this week’s addition
ended up being a little more convoluted than I had anticipated. I am certainly
going to need to revisit the latest page and look for ways to whittle down the
story line before the final act is presented. In addition to the creative side
of the story, I have realized through further research that I have mislabeled some
of the architectural nomenclature. I take this as a positive step because it is
naturally an indication that I am learning new things about a field I am very
competent in. But it means that some serious review of the story at large is
obligatory.
So, famous last words for the week? I'm tired and I'm ready to sign out. May we all have a more creative spirit in the weeks ahead!
